Market-based avocado farming in PyinOoLwin recorded to create market expansion

Going on a survey to avocado farms linking to market-based approaches is being undertaken in PyinOoLwin Township, said U Myo Nyunt, vice-chair of the Myanmar Avocado Producers and Exporters Association.
This survey is aimed at expanding into a new market and measuring farm productivity.
A combined team, including the officials from the Agriculture Department, Myanmar Avocado Producers and Exporters Association, the Department of Agricultural Land Management and Statistics, the General Administration Department, the Cooperatives Department and the Department of Planning has been surveying from 14 February in the township, to list the number of farm acres and calculate the yield rates of Hass and other varieties.
“We can figure the yield rate out only after the market-based farming statistics are listed in PyinOoLwin. After that, we can proceed to process, packaging, warehouse construction and factory establishment matters. We will specifically collect data of Hass separated from other varieties. This way, we can calculate the Hass production rate in PyinOoLwin”, he explained.
During the survey, technical assistance will be provided to boost the quality of the avocado varieties that originated in PyinOoLwin.
The name of farmers, farming acres, varieties and the plants aged below and above three years are to be recorded. The accuracy of statistics plays a pivotal role in the development of the avocado industry. Thus, growers and entrepreneurs in PyinOoLwin Township are required to cooperate in this survey. — Min Htet Aung (Mandalay Sub-Printing House)/GNLM
