MCCCC, CFPD donate computers, printers to IPRD public libraries

The donation ceremony of computers and printers to the public libraries by the Myanmar Chinese Cooperation and Communication Centre and China Foundation for Peace and Development was held at the Community Centre of IPRD in Bahan Township of Yangon yesterday.
The ceremony was attended by Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn, Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein, relevant organizations officials, and invitees.
In his opening speech, the Union minister said 18 community centres feature meeting halls, training halls, multipurpose centres, computer centres, public libraries, kid reading rooms, small museums and sports halls across the nation from 2013 to date. People of any age can get the services free. The exhibitions, competitions, meetings, talks and training courses were also held at 18 community centres.
The Union minister also highlighted upgrade works on public libraries into digital libraries, the drafting process of an e-Library Management System Software and training for librarians to use the e-Library Management System Software in digital libraries. The system will set the domain name at www.publiclibrary.gov.mm at the web browser and host web service, launching digital services starting May 2022. He also expressed words of thanks for donations.
Then, Chairperson Daw Khin Khin Lay of the Myanmar Chinese Cooperation and Communication Centre briefed the donation. The China Foundation for Peace and Development general secretary remarked through videoconferencing.
Then, the Myanmar Chinese Cooperation and Communication Centre officials handed over 35 pairs of computers and colour printers to the Union minister and received the certificates of honour in return.
The director-general of the IPRD expressed words of thanks.
