A media delegation visited Kainggyi Village of Mro ethnic people in Maungtaw Township, Rakhine State, yesterday and reported the current security situation and prospects for peaceful coexistence between communities after displaced people returned from Bangladesh.
At the village, authorities also explained the relocation of villagers to a new village, construction of buildings with the assistance of the Union Government, education and health care services for the local people.
At the Maungtaw District Administration Office, journalists interviewed the local authorities about the cultivation of rice during the rainy season, security and peace and coexistence between communities. In the afternoon, the 17-member delegation visited the Ngakhuya Reception Centre and witnessed the assistance provided to the returnees at the centre and found out the process of issuing the National Verification Cards to the returnees.
The 17-member media delegation comprised journalists from Fuji TV, Sky News TV, New York Times, Myanmar News Agency, MRTV and MITV.
