MIFER Deputy Minister attends 46th HLTF-EI Meeting

Deputy Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations Dr Wah Wah Maung, the Lead of Myanmar HLTF-EI, attended the Forty-Sixth Meeting of the High-Level Task Force on ASEAN Economic Integration (46th HLTF-EI), which was held on 14 August 2024 in Vientiane, Lao PDR.
The meeting discussed the progress of Priority Economic Deliverables (PEDs) under Lao PDR’s ASEAN Chairmanship, the global and regional outlook, new and emerging issues in ASEAN Plus One FTAs, the implementation of the ASEAN strategy on carbon neutrality for sustainability in the region, the progress of the implementation of the piloting of Good Regulatory Practices (GRP) in the electric vehicle and batteries industry, the development of the AEC Strategic Plan 2026-2030, AEC Post 2025 Study and the updates on the End-Term Review (ETR) of the AEC Blueprint 2025, the preparations for Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship in 2025 and recommendations for the consideration of the 56th ASEAN Economic Ministries Meeting which will be held in September 2024.
The meeting was chaired by Dr Manothong Vongsay, Vice-Minister of Industry and Commerce, Lao People’s Democratic Republic, and attended by the leads and representatives of the High-level Task Force on ASEAN Economic Integration from the ASEAN Member States, the deputy secretary-general and officials from the ASEAN Secretariat. The High-Level Task Force on ASEAN Economic Integration (HLTF-EI) is formed by deputy ministers and permanent secretaries of ASEAN Member States, which discusses the implementation of the ASEAN Economic Community and future programmes and provides recommendations to the ASEAN Economic Ministries for consideration. — MIFER
