The Minbu-An-Sittway Road is a 103-mile-one-furlong road from Minbu to An, connecting Magway Region and Rakhine State.
Minbu (Sagu) Township Highways Department has informed that road upgrading works are being carried out with K1,405.63 million to facilitate the flow of goods and traffic.
Minbu-An-Sittway Road was constructed in 1981. Previously, the width of the asphalt road was only 12 feet. As a result, there are long journeys due to heavy traffic.
Two miles with a 24 feet width and 27 miles with 18 feet width were completed in the widening and resurfacing of the road. The remaining section will be implemented according to the financial year, said U Tun Min Win, a staff officer from the Minbu (Sagu) Highways Department.
Once upgrading work for the Minbu-An-Sittway Road will be completed it will facilitate the flow of goods from the Magway Region to Rakhine State. In addition to the development of social life in villages on the left and right sides of the road, traffic congestion and accidents will also be reduced. — Zeyar Htet (Minbu)/KZL
