Misinformation: security forces allegedly arrested over 80 locals in Waw Township, burning bridge

Security forces arrested over 80 residents from Anyasu Village and Upper Wynepatt Village in Waw Township in Bago Region on 24 January. Misinformation claiming they burned down the wooden bridge connecting the villages is being spread on social networks by malicious news media.
According to a local report, terrorists entered villages of Waw Township on 24 January, recruiting new members and extorting money from residents. Consequently, security forces responded by securing the area. Subsequently, terrorists burned a bridge in the village before fleeing. Misinformation, acting as malicious news media, has been reported to fabricate and spread false information deliberately on social networking sites. This misinformation aims to mislead locals and discredit the security forces. — MNA/KZW
