Misleading reports circulate amid security forces’ operation in Salingyi Township

It has been discovered that malicious media outlets are disseminating false information, alleging that eight members of the security forces were killed in an attack by PDF terrorists. The reports also claim that security forces members set fire to eight houses and one hut in Sar Htone Village, Salingyi Township, Sagaing Region.
On 17 January, security forces conducted security measures based on information that PDFs were hiding near Sar Htone village. During the operation, homemade guns and other explosives were seized. A clash ensued between the security forces and PDFs, leading to the terrorists setting houses in Sar Htone village on fire before retreating.
The intention behind these false reports by malicious media outlets is to spread misinformation, covering up the actions of insurgents who perpetrated terrorist acts and misleading the public about security forces. — MNA/KTZH
