Misleading reports on security operations in Gwa Township

Reports circulated claiming that security forces arrested over 60 residents from three villages in Gwa Township, Rakhine State, on 15 August. These reports, propagated by certain malicious media outlets, are inaccurate.
According to a security official, operations carried out by security forces on 15 August were part of routine measures to prevent infiltration of insurgents and subversive acts in the area. There have been no reports of unlawful arrests or threats against locals.
Some subversive media outlets and extremists spread false claims, alleging that security personnel engaged in arson and wrongful detentions. These misleading reports aim to create panic and disrupt the peace in the region. — MNA/KZL
