MNHRC inspects prison, custodies in Pyay District

A delegation of Myanmar National Human Rights Commission (MNHRC) led by its members U Kyaw Myint and U Kyaw Soe inspected Pyay Prison and Paungde Prison of Bago Region Correction Department on 19 and 20 February.
During the inspection tour, they also inspected lock-ups of Pyay District Court, 500-bed Hospital, Pyay Township police station, No 1 and No 3 police stations in Pyay Township, Paungde Township Court, Myoma Police station and Hmattaing
police station in Paungde Township. The delegation inspected whether prisons and detention facilities were obeying the prescribed rules of the commission. They also met with individual inmates and asked them if their rights were violated or not and their fundamental human rights are acquired. They recorded the investigations. Their suggestions on the investigations will be reported to the related departments in order to take necessary actions, according to the MNHRC.— MNA (Translated by TTN)
