MNL derby match: Yangon United ties with Yadanarbon

The two former champions of the Myanmar National League, Yangon United and Yadanarbon F.C., tied to a 2-2 draw in the derby match of Week-3 of the Myanmar National League, held yesterday at the Yangon United Sports Complex in Yangon.
Goals for Yadanarbon F.C. were scored by local stars Zaw Ye Tun and Myo Ko Tun, while the goals for Yangon United were scored by foreign player Emmanuel.
Yadanarbon F.C., which comprised local players, put in a strong performance against the competing team, which included foreign players.
Yangon United dominated in the first half of the match, which started with a surprise kick by Yangon’s Kaung Htet Soe hitting the right post of the goal net and bouncing back.
Emmanuel scored the icebreaker for Yangon Untied at 38 minutes over a cross ball by Zarni Htet.
Yangon United lead the first half with a score of 1-0. Adopting a new tactic, Yadanarbon F.C. played a far better game than in the first half, with Zaw Ye Tun scoring the equalizer at 55 minutes. Another leading goal was scored by Myo Ko Tun at 56 minutes. After Yadanarbon established a 2-1 lead, Yangon opened attack.
Yangon United scored their second goal after they were awarded a penalty at 77 minutes. The penalty was converted by Emmanuel.
In the later minutes, there were no more goals by either team, and the match ended with Yadanarbon and Yangon United conceding to a 2-2 draw.—Lynn Thit (Tgi)
