Football matches of the Myanmar National League and other tourneys will be played within closed stadiums, according to the executive member meeting of the Myanmar Football Federation held yesterday.
The football matches will be held behind closed doors at the stadiums, without fans, till 30 April due to the global spread of the coronavirus disease.
According to the decision taken at the MFF meeting, foreign players of the Myanmar National League will be allowed to go back home, but they won’t be permitted to enter Myanmar again until the COVID-19 threat subsides.
The Myanmar Football Federation is connecting with the FIFA and Asian Football Confederation to officially release detailed facts and fixtures of the Myanmar National Football matches for the World Cup and Asian Cup qualifiers, according to the MFF meeting.
The World Health Organization has declared the COVID-19 disease as a pandemic. Though Myanmar has not been affected by the virus, the government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar has advised citizens against holding crowded parties or ceremonies until 30 April to prevent the spread of the disease. —Lynn Thit (Tgi)
