Myanmar National League Committee yesterday held a virtual meeting to discuss the MNL agendas for the upcoming tournaments in 2021.
Chairman of the MNL Committee and President of the Myanmar Football Federation U Zaw Zaw and owners of the Myanmar National League Clubs joined the MNL videoconference meeting.
First, the MFF President U Zaw Zaw expressed words of thanks to all the club owners and football officials for their efforts for the development of football sports during the pandemic period.
“Every football club will certainly have more or less financial crisis due to the economic downturn, and it is necessary to reduce spending more carefully so as not to make it more difficult. As it is a long journey, we have to keep a systematic financial method in the long run,” U Zaw Zaw said.
“Despite all the difficulties during the COVID-19 period, Myanmar National League will try to hold the 2021 versions of the domestic tourneys in accordance with the international football standard and regulations,” U Zaw Zaw added.
Next, MNL vice-president Dr. Sai Sam Tun expounded the financial statement for the previous MNL football season and the financial situation for the next season.
MNL Chief Executive Officer U Soe Moe Kyaw also briefed on the current situation of the Myanmar National League clubs by reviewing on the future football plan.
During the meeting, football authorities decided to hold the Myanmar National League I matches from April to September 2021, depending on the COVID-19 condition.
The Myanmar National League II is also planned to host from May to August, and Bogyoke Aung San Shield football tournament will be held from June to September.
The Women’s League is scheduled to run from April in the first round and May to July in the next round, respectively.
The final decision will be made at another league committee meeting early next month.
The number of teams competing in the domestic tourneys will also be decided during the next meeting, according to the Myanmar National League Committee.—Lynn Thit (Tgi)
