MoALI discusses comprehensive development project implementations

Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Tin Htut Oo attended the coordination meeting on the effective implementation of the comprehensive development projects for the entire agricultural sector yesterday morning in Nay Pyi Taw.

At the meeting, the Union Minister U Tin Htut Oo said that in the transformation of Myanmar’s economy, the agricultural sector will focus on food security as well as job creation, adding the necessity to include plans that will cover not only crop and fish production but also the entire production process to the final stage in implementing projects.

The meeting also discussed the development of long-term plans for the production of key crops, including rice, for the food and nutrition of the next 100 million people; including local development plans in the implementation of the projects by the Agricultural sector in order to narrow the development gap between urban and rural areas, states and regions; coordination with the regional organization, inter-country cooperation programmes and international financial assistance programmes to obtain the necessary projects in accordance with the projects being carried out by the Ministry; the completion of projects being implemented with the support loans in a timely manner; adapting production practices to adapt to the current changing climate; the development of plans for the transformation of livestock farming and plans for sustainable socio-economic development in rural areas and implementation of plans to minimize wasteful and efficient use of water from dams and river reservoirs.

The meeting was also attended by officials from the implementation of comprehensive development of the agricultural sector.—MNA
