MOALI, Norway’s Yara International ASA discuss development of agriculture in Myanmar

Dr Aung Thu, Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation, held talks with officals of the Yara International headquarters in Oslo, Norway, on 22 October over development of agro sector in Myanmar.

During his visit to Norway based world leading crop nutrition company, the Union Minister met with Mr Lars Røsæg Chief Financial Officer in Yara International and discussed about Yara’s success story while starting up in Myanmar in last 2 years, products produced from Norway for Myanmar farmers, right combinations and right knowledge of crop nutrition, collaboration with Yezin Agricultural University to support
the future of Myanmar agriculture.
Mr Røsæg explained to the minister about Yara is also working for smallholder farmers by many digital farming tools for long term sustainable farming of Myanmar future as crop nutrition company for the future strategy.
Dr Aung Thu responded with welcoming Yara to prosper in Myanmar and Myanmar will be a great market for Yara, he said. The Minister also responded with positive interest and mentioned that new digital tools would require certain legal adjustments.
Senior Agronomist of Yara Myanmar Limited, Bjørn Tor Svoldal, further explained how Yara crop nutrition solutions can increase yield, crop and profitability for farmer at the same time reducing environmental footprint of agriculture.—GNLM
