MoALI urges livestock breeders to manage disaster

G1

The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation warned livestock breeders on 9 September of possible impacts triggered by heavy rainfall, floods, strong wind and lightning strikes.
Farmers are urged to follow safety management to prevent farm animals from disasters and mitigate loss.
Disaster preparedness and livestock protection measures include staying alert to early warnings and meteorological warnings of the State-run radios, broadcast channels and newspapers, storing feedstuff such as paddy straw, corn straw and bean straw and adequate drinking water for animals, preventing animals from flooding in flood vulnerable and risk areas and preparing farms and animals for disaster, moving animals to sheltered areas with feed and clean water access, relocating feedstuff to designated areas in time, ensuring vaccinations as animals are susceptible to infectious diseases after prolonged flooding, informing the nearest Livestock Breeding and Veterinary Department of emergency treatment for animal inquiries and contagious disease and cooperating with the LBVD and Myanmar Livestock Federation to identify and respond to suspicion of animal disease, LBVD notified. — NN/KK
