Mobile medical team to give checkups to drug-resistant TB patients

A mobile medical team will give tuberculosis patients who are resistant to the drug Rifampicin checkups with a Gene-X-pert machine in Myawady, a border town in Kayin State, according to health officials.
An educative talk on checking TB patients for drug resistance with the Gene-X-pert machine was held at the hall of Myawady District People’s Hospital on 12 May.
A number of experts on tuberculosis gave lectures on the treatment of drug-resistant patients.
According to a healthcare plan, the mobile medical team will check TB patients for resistance to the Rifampicin TB drug in Myawady from 18 to 22 May.–Htein Lin Aung (IPRD)
