MoC allows daily import process of anti-COVID-19 devices, medical aids

The Ministry of Commerce is making efforts to ensure people have access to the essential medical supplies that are critical to the COVID-19 prevention, control and treatment activities, including liquid oxygen and oxygen cylinders, arranging continuous importation on public holidays.
On 18 September (yesterday), anti-COVID-19 equipment, medical products, including oxygen plants and concentrators were imported by 10 companies and transported by 16 vehicles, including three bowsers.
A total of 56 tonnes of oxygen (liquid) carried by two bowsers, 4,630 empty oxygen cylinders, eight oxygen plants, ten oxygen concentrators for home use, 500 PPE suits, and 11 tonnes of masks were imported via Muse, Chinshwehaw, Kampaiti, Myawady, and Tachilek trading posts, harbours and Yangon International Airport.
Three vehicles carrying liquid oxygen were transported to Yangon, while two vehicles to Mandalay.
Out of eight oxygen plants, two were transported to Yangon, another two to Pakkoku, and one each to Monywa, Gangaw, Myaing, and Htantalan, respectively.
From 1 September to 18 September, 380 vehicles carrying 586 tonnes of liquid oxygen bowser, 126 tonnes of liquid oxygen, 20 tonnes of oxygen gas, four storage containers, one liquid oxygen distributor, 74,000 empty oxygen cylinders, 153 oxygen plants, two oxygen refiling machines for hospitals, 18 oxygen generators, 11,328 oxygen concentrators for home use, 70,000 test kits, 1,000,000 sets of PPE, 81 tonnes of gloves and 2,270 tonnes of the mask were allowed to be imported from 204 companies.
In the same period, a total of 29 oxygen bowsers was allowed to be transported.
Among the 29 vehicles, 20 vehicles were transported to Yangon, four to Mandalay, two to Mawlamyine, and one each to Bago, Monywa and Pyay respectively.
Two vehicles carrying liquid oxygen plus eight oxygen plants were transported to Yangon and one oxygen plant each were transported to Magway, Mawlamyine and Dedaye.
Out of 153 oxygen plants: 108 oxygen plants to Yangon, 12 to Mandalay, three to Pakkoku, three to Chauk, two to Lashio, two to Minbu, two to Maubin, and one each to Mawlamyine, Monywa, Myitkyina, Moegaung, Myinmu, Mudon, Pyay, Meiktila, Myaungmya, Wynemaw, Tachilek, Mohnyin, Kangyidaung, Phakant, Aunglan, Kawa, Singu, Myaing, Gangaw, Htantalan and Tantyang were successfully transported.
Officials from the relevant departments are cooperating to facilitate and expedite the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) including online registration for the import process during the long public holidays.
