MoC holds meeting on consumer affairs, consumer competition commissions

Union Minister Dr Pwint San holds talks with the Myanmar Consumer Affairs Commission and Myanmar Competition Commission yesterday.

The Ministry of Commerce held the briefing ceremony of the Myanmar Consumer Affairs Commission and Myanmar Competition Commission formed under the Consumer Affairs Law and Competition Law yesterday morning in Nay Pyi Taw.
At the meeting, Union Minister Dr Pwint San instructed the attendees to expand consumer committees to facilitate operations, explain and discuss the activities of the Consumer Affairs Committee to the region/state administration councils, mainly change the national consumption of palm oil to reduce the import of the oil, and conduct public awareness campaign on the reduction of consuming oil through the daily newspaper and news media. He also called for the Competition Commission to accelerate the coordination with its partners.
The Department of Consumer Affairs explained consumer protection law, the formation of consumer affairs commissions and committees, dealing with consumer cases and plans to reduce palm oil imports in Myanmar.

The Department of Commerce explained the Competition Law, the Myanmar Competition Commission’s establishment and the commission’s work, cooperation with local/international organizations and further activities, and the Union Minister coordinated the meeting.—MNA
