MoC holds meeting on road/bridge development, future implementations

The Ministry of Construction held the coordination meeting on the development of roads and bridges, standardization and future implementation on 12 May in Nay Pyi Taw.
Union Minister U Shwe Lay addressed the meeting. Deputy Minister U Min Htein, Permanent Secretary U Aung Myint Oo, officials from the Highways Department discussed their sectors, and the Union Minister coordinated the meeting.
The Quarterly Coordination Meeting of the Highways Department was held yesterday morning through videoconferencing following the COVID-19 health guidelines.
At the meeting, the Union Minister instructed all to form the B.O.T Task Force in order to increase road and bridge taxes while the nation-building work was being carried out. The B.O.T companies should be supervised to upgrade the roads and get full revenue. He added to take step by step action systematically against those who use the land owned by the government without permission.
He also added to pay attention to the environmental conservation and the need to plant big trees suitable for the area along the roadside in the rainy season to make the environment green.
Directors of the respective regions and states presented the status of completing work, ongoing projects and future implementation, availability of funds by fiscal year, difficulties encountered in the workplace and staffing issues. – MNA
