MoC minister attends opening ceremony of online expo

Union Minister for Commerce Dr Than Myint attended the opening ceremony of an online expo named Myanmar International Expo of Organic and Natural Products organized by Myanmar Trade Promotion Organization yesterday morning.
Participants at the event were from Myanmar, China, Viet Nam, Laos, South Korea, Japan, UK, Italy, Russia, United Arab Emirates, the European Union (EU), the United States and India.
During the event, the Union Minister said that like other nations, the Trade Promotion Organization organized the online expo to introduce high-quality products of Myanmar to international markets, and to find new markets. He said that Myanmar’s economic policy focusses on agricultural products, and online expos will have an important role in the country’s efforts to become an important food exporting country.
More than 50 companies from Myanmar, China, Viet Nam, Laos, and South Korea are exhibiting their products including rice, various types of beans, sesame, fruits, fishery products and other products. Business matching arrangements will be made during the period of the expo. More than 250 people from various countries registered their names to join the event, which is being held from 24 to 30 August. Yesterday afternoon, the Union Minister and his entourage visited Resources Group Logistics carried out by National Infrastructure Holding Co., Ltd in Ywathagyi model Ward in East Dagon Myothit Township, Yangon Region. The company’s Chairperson U Maung Kyay explained matters related to construction of buildings in Dry Port, construction of power regency fuel terminals, business operation, storage of fuel, and establishment of 50 fuel stations.
The Union Minister said that logistics service is very significant in trying to promote trade and pledged that he will help them for efficient operation of the Dry Port.
He also then looked around food, garment products, detergent powder, raw materials for soaps and detergent powder, flour, and other products stored in the Dry Port. —MNA (Translated by Maung Maung Swe)
