Deputy Minister for Education Dr Zaw Myint took part in the 23rd management board meeting of the SEAMEO Regional Centre for History and Tradition held yesterday via videoconferencing.
During the meeting, the deputy minister stated that the SEAMEO CHAT was established to preserve the historical heritage and traditional culture of Southeast Asia. The Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO) is among the 26 SEAMEO regional centres in the member countries. SEAMEO CHAT was opened in Myanmar in 2000. Since then, SEAMEO CHAT’s management team has held 18 meetings in Yangon, two in Nay Pyi Taw and once each in Mandalay and Bagan.
The deputy minister also discussed the success of the ongoing processes and future work plans and suggested that such a meeting of the management team, where decisions are made, is essential and can lead to improvements.
Deputy Director Ms Pintip Lamnirath of the Administration and Relations Department of the SEAMEO Secretariat, the SEAMEO CHAT director and representatives from member countries attended the meeting virtually. — MNA/TS
