The MoE third-day coordination meeting on the higher-education sector is held in Nay Pyi Taw.

The Ministry of Education held the third-day coordination meeting on the higher education sector yesterday morning in Nay Pyi Taw.
At the meeting, Union Minister for Education Dr Nyunt Pe said the State Administration Council Chairman has been always guiding students to study with joy and rectors and professors to perform their duties in peace.
Under the guidance of the Head of State, universities in the higher education sector will be categorized in Class A, Class B and Class C, and arrangements will be made to open PhD classes in at least one university in each region and state. Master courses can be opened if there are sufficient instructors and teaching aids, he said.
He called on instructors, teachers, professors and rectors to work together with mutual respect and with loyalty to the country. The Union minister also said to renovate the infrastructure of the universities.
He said to support the livelihoods of the teachers as well as to recognize the management of the rectors, pro-rectors and deans of faculties, adding that decent bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens will be included in the hostels of teachers. He also added to hold weekly departmental seminars to improve the qualification of teachers, and to have warm and family-type relations.
At the meeting, the discussions were held in six groups among the rectors on becoming top universities, enhancing learning opportunities, promoting learning, drafting of rules and regulations and planning and finance. The group discussion topics were also discussed in PowerPoint presentations.
The meeting was also attended by the permanent secretary, directors-general, rectors of the universities and colleges under the Ministry of Education and officials. — MNA
