MoE not under lock down

The Ministry of Education in Nay Pyi Taw is not under lock down, said Director-General U Zaw Htay of the Ministry of State Counsellor Office yesterday. The comment was referring to a rumour spreading on social media that the Ministry of Education is under lock down when a staff was found positive of COVID-19.
U Zaw Htay said a 65-year old male staff working at the ministry fell ill at his home in Zabuthiri Township at 10:05 pm on 7 April and was sent to the 1000-bed hospital in Nay Pyi Taw and receiving treatment. He said the patient had pneumonia and his swab test has been sent to he National Health Laboratory. The NHL confirmed that the patient is negative to the COVID-19 disease.
U Zaw Htay said the Ministry of Education is currently working with the least number of staff, conducting meetings with video conferences and having staff working online. He said the ministry is endeavouring to ensure prevention and protection measures are in place. The Swab test report from the National Health Laboratory (Yangon) showed negative on the male staff’s specimen. The test report was released on 8 April evening.—Htet Hlan (Translated by Zaw Htet Oo)
