MoFA Union Minister receives foreign heads of missions, UN representative

The Qatar charge' d'affaires calls on Union Minister U Than Swe yesterday.

U Than Swe, Union Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, received Mr Rashid Abdulla M A Al-Kuwari, Charge’ d’affaires of Qatar at 9 am, Mr Vinay Kumar, Ambassador of India at 10 am, Mr Saud bin Abdullah Alsubaie, Ambassador of Saudi Arabia at 11 am, and Mr Ramanathan Balakrishnan, UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator ai at 1 pm respectively at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Yangon yesterday.
At the call with the charge’ d’affaires of Qatar, they cordially exchanged views on matters pertaining to the enhancement of friendly bilateral ties between Myanmar and Qatar, expanding mutually beneficial cooperation including trade and investment, particularly in the areas of agricultural and maritime products, energy, hotel and tourism. They also discussed on resumption of commercial flights as well as the signing of MoUs and Agreements for accelerating bilateral cooperation between Myanmar and Qatar.
During the call with the Indian ambassador, they candidly exchanged views on matters related to the promotion of existing friendly bilateral relations, expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation including connectivity and cross-border electricity transmission, India’s continued support of the rehabilitation and reconstruction works in areas affected by the Cyclone MOCHA as well as closer collaboration in the regional and international fora.
At the call with the Saudi ambassador, they cordially discussed matters pertaining to the promotion of friendly relations between Myanmar and Saudi Arabia, the possibility of exporting Myanmar’s agricultural and marine products to Saudi Arabia, enhancing bilateral cooperation in the fields of energy, trade and investment, labour, culture and education as well as strengthening cooperation in multilatral fora.
During the meeting with the UN resident coordinator, they discussed matters of cooperation in the smooth and effective provision of humanitarian assistance to the Myanmar people affected by Cyclone Mocha. — MNA
