Mandalay Region Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Breeding U Myint Than together with departmental officials on 3 June inspected the dredging of Mogok Lake by the Irrigation Department.
The minister instructed officials to stockpile gravel and earthen works for the embankment of the lake.
Upon completion, Mogok Lake will store a greater amount of water, making the surrounding environment greener and reducing the flood risk for nearby homes. The project is also aimed at making the lake a focal point for recreation.
On arrival at Shwehninsi agricultural farm, the minister and party viewed thriving tea, macadamia and jack fruit plants, holding discussions with workers of the farm on welfare tasks and wages.–Thiha Ko Ko (Mandalay)
