MoHS holds virtual meeting on Human Resources for Health Strategy

The Ministry of Health and Sports organized a virtual meeting to assess implementation of the Human Resources for Health Strategy (2018-2021) yesterday afternoon via videoconferencing.
During the meeting, Union Minister Dr Myint Htwe said that the Department of Human Resources for Health is a department to nurture experts, draft project plans and assess implementation of projects.
The Union Minister stressed that rectors of medical universities have very crucial roles for development of human resources for the health sector. He called on the relevant officials to take into account future needs in making efforts for the development of human resources for the health sector.
Regarding promotion opportunities for existing officials, the Union Minister said that the promotion processes will be conducted by discussing with the department heads/professors concerned.
He said that health officials nurtured by the country need to have great skills, be ethical, be optimistic, be able to work in a team, and be forward-looking.
The Union Minister said that the ministry increased budgets for medical universities for 2020-2021 financial year.
The Union Minister also urged project managers of more than 40 health projects of the ministry to review their strategies and tasks in order to make necessary changes.
Dr Tin Tun, Deputy Director-General (Academic. Affairs) explained the participants on the situations related to implementation of the Human Resources for Health Strategy (2018-2021). Director Dr Kyaw Soe Nyunt and Deputy Director May Thwe Hla Shwe also made discussions about the strategy.
Deputy Director Dr Kyaw Shwe explained the administration and finance matters related to the Human Resources for Health Strategy (2018-2021) and future plans. World Health Organization (WHO) Representative to Myanmar Dr Stephan Paul Jost and Jhpiego’s Technical Director Dr Khaing Hay Mar Myint also made discussions in the virtual meeting.
