MoHT Deputy Minister highlights Myanmar’s ideal geographical location

Deputy Minister for Hotels and Tourism U Phyo Zaw Soe highlighted Myanmar as having a perfect geo-position during the 2023 International Conference of Mountain Tourism and Outdoor Sports held in Xingyi, Guizhou Province, People’s Republic of China, from 15 to 16 September.
In his keynote speech, the deputy minister said that Myanmar is a year-round tourist destination, as well as having a perfect geographical position and a place where mountain tourism activities can be carried out, from the snow-capped mountains in the far north to the natural seas in the south.
Although Myanmar is mainly engaged in culture-based tourism, nature-based tourism activities can also be implemented. As China is one of Myanmar’s main tourist markets, we are working to make it easy for Chinese tourists to visit Myanmar. Visas on arrival for Chinese tourists have been granted since 30 August 2023, he added.
Since Myanmar and China are neighbouring countries with similar natural resources and cultures, they will work together to develop mountain tourism, as well as cooperate for the development of sustainable tourism, he commented.
Then Deputy Minister U Phyo Zaw Soe met Governor Mr Bingjun of Guizhou Province and discussed issues related to tourism cooperation. He also attended the conference on 16 September. During the ceremony, the Minister of Culture and Sports of the People’s Republic of China Mr Hu Heping and the Minister of Tourism of the Maldives and tourism experts gave speeches.
Then, the deputy minister and party attended the opening ceremony of the annual meeting and the International Mountain Tourism and Capital Building Forum. — MNA/KZL
