MoHT Union minister attends Christmas dinner, rural cycling festival in PyinOoLwin

A 2021 PyinOoLwin Christmas dinner party was held at the Forestry Training School on the evening of 24 December and was attended by Union Minister for Hotels and Tourism Dr Htay Aung, Mandalay Region Chief Minister U Maung Ko and ministers of the Mandalay regional government, Tatmadaw senior officers from the PyinOoLwin Station, priests, nuns and Christian guests.
At the dinner, Mandalay Region Chief Minister U Maung Ko said all ethnic nationalities in Myanmar are living together in unity and love for one another grows despite the different religious festivals and cultural events, and he wished that the blessings of Christ may abound and peace is upon you.
Afterwards, His Holiness Father L. Mar and His Holiness Lap Khusap explained about the Christmas festival and wished Myanmar peace and prosperity and good health to all its people, and expressed words of thanks. After singing hymns, the Union Minister and the Chief Minister presented Christmas presents to the attendees and shared a Christmas cake and dinner.
Yesterday morning, Union Minister Dr Htay Aung and party attended the “PyinOoLwin Rural Cycling Festival” held at the PyinOoLwin District Public Stadium as a movement to revitalize tourism in Mandalay Region. More than 150 local and foreign cyclists reportedly took part in the 9-mile stretch up to December Farm from Pwekauk Waterfall.
Afterwards, the Union minister and party arrived at the PyinOoLwin station and cut the ribbon to open the railway from PyinOoLwin to Gote Hteik Viaduct, giving souvenirs to the passengers. In order to follow COVID-19 rules and regulations, the number of regular passengers was halved, with about 140 passengers on board. The Union minister and party also met the cyclists at Pwekauk Waterfall and presented commemorative medals and awarded certificates to those who participated in the cycling tour at December Farm.
In the afternoon, the Union minister and party observed the registration process under the “Flower Garden” project conducted by the Ministry of Immigration and Population and handed over the registration cards to the local people who came to register. — MNA
