Meeting participants discuss surging of hotels and tourism sector.

Union Minister for Hotels and Tourism Dr Htay Aung held an online meeting with the Chairmen of the Myanmar Tourism Federation and affiliated associations yesterday morning.
During the meeting, he said it is necessary for the affiliate associations, including the Myanmar Tourism Federation, to actively work hand in hand with the ministry for the development of the hotels and tourism sector although there may be many challenges in reviving tourism.
The Union Minister is currently in Kawthoung and will submit to the higher authorities to coordinate with the relevant departments to start direct motorboat trips to the archipelago starting from the coming October in accordance with the COVID-19 disease prevention guidelines. This trip is a good plan to revitalize the motorboat tourism business that was stopped due to the outbreak, and will be able to provide job opportunities for the locals.
He also called for the continued cooperation of regional organizations, adding to coordinate for the participation of private organizations in the CLMVT Forum 2021 Webinar to be held from 24 to 26 August.
The president and officials of the Myanmar Tourism Federation and its affiliate associations discussed the need to include representatives from the Myanmar Restaurant Entrepreneurs Association in the Destination Management Organizations (DMOs), to select a suitable travel destination for the resumption of tourism, conditions for day trips in regions and states and the necessity for the re-establishment of tourism companies.—MNA
