MoI Union Minister attends second-day session of 18th Asia Media Summit

The Televisi Republik Indonesia-TVRI interviews with Union Minister U Maung Maung Ohn at the summit yesterday.

Myanmar delegation led by Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn attended the second-day session of the 18th Asia Media Summit in Indonesia yesterday.
The experts discussed Creating a Sustainable Media Ecosystem, Media Amplifying Global Economic Recovery Efforts, Youth Special Session: Getting Media Active, Talking about AI – Future of Media and CEO Table Talk – The Next Step Forward under the topic of Media Enhancing Economic Sustainability.
Then, the Union minister did an interview with TVRI (Televisi Republik Indonesia) and highlighted the current media sector of Myanmar, threats of disinformation/fake news and cooperation with international media industries.
The Union minister also attended the ministerial meeting on the release of the Bali Declaration 2023 and openly discussed the proper suggestions to work together with regional governments and broadcasting industries, use of social network media conscientiously, responsibility and accountability of founders of social network media together with other information ministers, heads of broadcasting industries, officials of ASEAN Secretary-General Office and AIBD Secretary-General Office.
The closing ceremony of the 18th Asia Media Summit was held in the evening and the officials read the outcomes of the summit for respective sectors. Then, they released the Bali Declaration 2023 on regional cooperation in combating misinformation/disinformation on social network media.
Then, officials had a documentary photo taken together and concluded the event successfully.
Moreover, the Union minister presented gifts to the ministers, heads of AIBD, ASEAN and TVRI and cordially greeted them.
The Bali Declaration 2023 released at the 8th Asia Media Summit includes regional cooperation with AIBD in combating the dangers of misinformation, fake news and disinformation using social network media like deep cooperation for accountability of social media and check and balance between the founders of social network media and stakeholders to control the one-sided news coverage that is likely to breach and curb the press freedom under the relevant law. — MNA/KTZH
