MoI Union Minister meets contestants who will compete in music festival to commemorate Diamond Jubilee Union Day

Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn met nine contestants from regions and states who will be competing in Group C of the “Happy Together Music Festival” in commemoration of the Diamond Jubilee Union Day at the Myanma Radio and Television (MRTV) meeting hall, yesterday morning.
During the meeting, the Union Minister said the Prime Minister has instructed to hold a special programme to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee Union Day. The purpose of the music festival is to bring about friendship and harmony amongst ethnic brothers and sisters of the regions and states and resolve the distress of the people, he elaborated. He urged the contestants to compete with dignity without losing the essence of the competition as it is a national level competition.
Afterwards, the Union Minister watched rehearsals of the contestants who will be singing traditional songs on 24 December. In the afternoon, he met the MRTV staff and underlined that the ministry provides services to the public through the media and it is an important department for the State that is serving the people with the purpose of informing, educating and entertaining. He said the department is being initiated to be fresh and he urged them to carry out their duties with serious thoughts. He stressed he respects and acknowledges the responsibilities of the employees and urged them to work together to become a successful department. — MNA
