MoI Union Minister meets members of film, video censor boards

Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn met members of the motion picture censorship board and video censorship board in Yangon yesterday.
During the meeting, the Union minister said the meeting intends to discuss cordially with censorship members to broadcast Myanmar movies, international dramas, films, movies with Myanmar subtitles and series in line with the Motion Picture Law and Television and Video Law.
The arts for movies need critical thinking and extreme creation can cause toxicity to the public and the creation may be weak if there is strict restriction.
Therefore, the creators should initate proper entertainment and the censorship members should censor following the six regulations based on the stipulations of Motion Picture Law and Television and Video Law. The censorship board censored the movies in detail and gave suggestions not to be toxic movies for the public.
The Union minister then appreciated the efforts of censorship members who censored 20 episodes of Myanmar series, nine Myanmar movies, 38 international movies, 10 Myanmar videos, one Karaoke, 776 international dramas (Myanmar subtitle) that were broadcast via TV channels, 57 international dramas (Myanmar subtitle, voice-dubbing in the Myanmar Language), 35 Myanmar dramas, 23 documentaries and five Myanmar movies.
Chairman of Myanmar Motion Picture Organization U Kyi Soe Tun, Myanmar Broadcasters Association Chairman U Ye Naing Soe, and MRTV Director-General U Ye Naing reported on the measures for censorship, broadcasting programmes and supervision of online media.
Then, other attendees coordinated the discussion and the Union minister concluded the meeting.
The Union minister enjoyed Myanmar traditional Thingyan festival at MRTV on Pyay Road in Yangon and sprayed artistes, staff of MRTV and guests each other. — MNA/KTZH
