MoI Union Minister meets members of National Literary Award, Sarpay Beikman Manuscript Award selection committees, members of Myanmar Press Council

Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn met members of the National Literary Award Selection Committee and the Sarpay Beikman Manuscript Award Selection Committee at the meeting hall of the Printing and Publishing Department on the Theinbyu Road in Botahtaung Township on 26 August afternoon.
During the meeting, the Union minister said that plans are being made to present the literary awards for the year 2021 grandly on the coming literary day (Sarsodaw Day) which falls on 23 November 2022. The literary experts who attended the meeting should openly discuss the difficulties they encountered in choosing the awards and select the most correct and deserved winner for the Lifetime Literary Award, the National Literary Award and the Sarpay Beikman Manuscript Award, he added.
Then, the director-general of the Printing and Publishing Department submitted the completion of the selection meetings for the National Literary Award and the Sarpay Beikman Manuscript Award.
Afterwards, Vice-chairman U Sein Hlaing (Thura Zaw) of the National Literary Award Selection Committee, Chairman U Ohn Maung (Myinmu Maung Naing Moe) of the Sarpay Beikman Manuscript Award Selection Committee and literary scholars discussed the matters concerning the difficulties encountered in selecting literary awards and the activities for prize selection.
After that, the Union Minister and Deputy Minister U Ye Tint completed the discussions and the Union minister made a concluding remark.
In the afternoon, the Union minister met the Myanmar Press Council chairman and council members and urged them to build a better media community and educate the public about false information and fake news. Then, Deputy Minister U Ye Tint gave a word of thanks to the Myanmar Press Council for successfully carrying out its activities. After that, the Chairman of the Myanmar Press Council and members had a discussion and the Union Minister gave a closing speech.
Chairman U Ohn Maung (Myinmu Maung Naing Moe) of the Myanmar Press Council, Vice-Chairman 1 U Myo Tun (Maung Sein Naung-Lewe), Vice-Chairman 2 U Tin Maung Oo (Gyobingauk-Tin Maung Oo) and council members attended the meeting. — MNA
