MoIP discusses to formulate population policy suitable for the country

MoIP focuses on formulating population policy for development of socio-economic status of the people.

The Ministry of Immigration and Population held the coordination meeting on formulating population policy, an indicator for the socio-economic development, yesterday afternoon in Nay Pyi Taw.
At the meeting, Union Minister U Khin Yi said factors, problems and difficulties in making population policy for socio-economic development as indicated by population must be carefully considered.
Director of the Population Department Dr Khine Khine Soe explained the results of the 2014 National Population and Household Census and 2019 Interim Population Census that are being used by the departments and organizations working for the development of the country; the status of the population policy formation based on the census results in different parts of the world and the need to formulate the population policy in Myanmar.
Regarding the explanation, the Union Minister said the census results collected by the department are the basic statistics used for national development, defence and security measures of the State, adding that plans are being based on the collected data for the country’s socio-economic development. The Union Minister stressed the need to formulate population policy that must be appropriate for the country.—MNA
