Mon State produces over 45,000 tonnes of salt in 2023-2024 season

Mon State’s salt output exceeded 45,000 tonnes from 4,700 acres in the 2023-2024 salt production season.
Salt production season begins around December, halts in April sometimes due to heavy rain and ends in May.  Salt harvesting businesses are found in Thanbyuzayat, Ye and Paung townships, Mon State.
Salt from Mon State is distributed to Mon State, Kayin State, Taninthayi Region and Mandalay Region. Fine salt rather than coarse salt is delivered to the Mandalay Region.
Twenty tonnes of coarse salt from Thanbyuzayat Township, Mon State have been exported to Japan on a trial basis and 40 tonnes will be shipped to the Republic of Korea as well.
Sundried slat production blocks increased to 90 this year from 89 recorded last year. — ASH/KK
