MoNREC designates Gyogyar Inn as forest protection area

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation has designated the area of 4,087 acres in Tatkon Township, Uttara District in Nay Pyi Taw, as “Gyogyar Inn forest protection area” as of 26 August 2022, under Notification No 129/2022 by exercising the authority conferred under Sub-section (e) of Section (6) of the Forest Law promulgated in 2018.
The Gyogyar Inn protected forest is intended to develop and sustain natural forests that will effectively fulfil the need for water and land conservation and balancing climates, good soil and a green environment.
The Gyogyar Inn protected forest is not only a place where various kinds of wood and valuable trees such as timbers, sal trees, Myanmar pinak, Shorea oblongifolia, Chukrasia tabularis but also the herbs such as Menispermum and Shatavari as well as a habitat for wild animals such as jungle cat, red junglefowl, Phasianidae, rabbit, Chinese francolin, Columbidae. It is also a watershed area of the Sinthay Dam. Thus, the area is declared a forest protection area.
