MoPFI discusses EU financial support for education, nutrition sector reforms

Deputy Minister for Planning, Finance and Industry U Maung Maung Win held a virtual meeting with EU Delegation to Myanmar Head of Cooperation Dr Johann Hesse and his group yesterday morning. During the meeting, Deputy Minister U Maung Maung Win expressed thanks to the EU for its financial support for Myanmar’s Education Sector Reform and Nutrition Sector Reform.
The Deputy Minister said that the COVID-19 Economic Relief Plan (CERP) had been developed and implemented in line with the Myanmar Sustainable Development Plan (MSDP). He continued that Myanmar is cooperating with international organizations such as the World Bank, IMF, JICA, ADB and other development partners to respond to the effects of the COVID-19 crisis efficiently.
Myanmar also acquired the Debt Service Suspension Initiative (DSSI) provided by G20 countries, according to the Deputy Minister. He continued that EU support for education and health sectors will significantly contribute to human resource development in Myanmar.
During the meeting, the EU side asked Myanmar questions about the situation of Myanmar Economic Resilience and Reform Plan (MERRP), which has been drafted by Myanmar. Deputy Ministers and other Myanmar officials answered the questions. The EU presented further plans to continue providing support for Myanmar’s COVID-19 response efforts. —MNA (Translated by Maung Maung Swe)
