MoRAC designates 30 buildings over 100 years old as ancient in 3 regions

The Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture (MORAC) has designated 30 buildings over 100 years old in Yangon and Ayeyawady Regions and Rakhine State as listed buildings.
Exercising its authority under Subsection (b) of Section 34 of the Preservation and Protection of Ancient Buildings Law, the MoRAC announced that eight buildings over 100 years old in Yangon, 12 in Ayeyawady and 10 in Rakhine were designated as listed buildings.
The eight listed buildings in Yangon Region include Dala Dockyard in Dala township, the Post and Telecommunications Department (formerly Government Telegraph Office) in Kyauktada township, Kyaw Home Mart (formerly Tejoomal Department Store), Inwa Bank (formerly Mercantile Bank of India) in Merchant street, Myanmar Citizens Bank (formerly Misquit & Co) at the corner of Maha Bandoola street and 37th street, the Department of Pension (formerly Currency Department) at No 27, the corner of Maha Bandoola Park street and Bank street, Myanma Port Authority Office at the junction of Pansodan and Merchant streets, and the Inland Water Transport between Merchant street and Strand Road.
Those in Ayeyawady Region include St Peter Catholic Church in Ward 4 and the archives office of the District General Administration Department in Pathein, Pobbayon, Arsoka, Vejayanda, Taikkyi, Sudatthana, Yadana Sein, Bawdi, Mya and Hmankin monasteries in Ward 15, Danuphyu, and Thukhitayama Monastery in Ward 2 in Danubyu.
Similarly, Thaddama Zawtikayon Monastery in Lanmadaw North Ward, U Ye Kyaw Thu Monastery in Sinkulan Ward, Gyit Bat Monastery in Kyaungtetlan Ward, Pyinnya Linkara Monastery in Ywagyi North Ward, Shwezedi Monastery in Kyaungtetlan Ward in Sittway, Ywachaunggyi Monastery in Ywachaunggyi village, Pauktaw, Panphechaung Monastery (Kyauktaw-Kanzauk) in Panphechaung village, Kyauktaw, Phayapaw Monastery in Phayapaw Ward in MraukU, Kansauk Monastery in Kanzauk village in MraukU, and Ngalyintaung Monastery on the hill and Thabyuchaing village, Natmaw village-tract in Thandwe are included in the ancient building list of Rakhine State. — MT/ZN
