MoRAC donates rice to monasteries, nunneries in Lewe of Nay Pyi Taw

The Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture celebrated the rice donation ceremony at Pauk Myaing Pariyatti Monastery in Lewe Township of Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.

The Ovadasariya of Uppatasanti Pagoda Sayadaw Abhidhaja Maha Rattha Guru Bhaddanta Janinda of Pauk Myaing Pariyatti Monastery and Sanghas attended the ceremony in addition to the Union Minister of Religious Affairs and Culture, Permanent Secretary, Director-General of Religious Affairs, Director-General and Deputy Permanent Secretary of Promotion and Propagation of the Sasana and other officials.
During the ceremony, Union Minister U Ko Ko and other officials took five precepts from Presiding Sayadaw Bhaddanta Janinda of Pauk Myaing Pariyatti Monastery.

Then, the Union Minister presented the religious affairs to the Sayadaws, successful holding of Maha Pathana Pali Chanting Ceremony in accordance with the instructions of Bhamo Sayadaw, Chairman of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee.

The Union Minister also briefed the rice donation—241 rice bags for a total of 1,015monks and 382 nuns in Pyinmana and Pobbathiri townships on 19 February, reopening of pagodas across the nation starting 8 February in accordance with the COVID-19 health rules, efforts for the promotion and propagation of Sasana and good merits for the donations.

Then, Presiding Sayadaw Bhaddanta Janinda of Pauk Myaing Pariyatti Monastery. delivered sermons, and the Union Minister and officials poured the water of liberation to share merits with them.

The Union Minister and party donated a total of 145 rice bags for 1,019 monks and nunneries in Lewe of Nay Pyi Taw.—MNA
