More than 1,000 acres of monsoon paddy cultivated in ChaungU this year

More than 1,000 acres of monsoon paddy have been cultivated in ChaungU Township, in Monywa district, Sagaing region this year, said Daw Khin Myat Myat Oo, the township head of ChaungU Township Agriculture Department.
In 2021-2022 FY, the department targeted to grow 18,500 acres of monsoon paddy in ChaungU Township. The department sown the seeds in July and started cultivating in the first week of August, 2021. So far, more than 1,000 acres of monsoon paddy have been cultivated,” she added.
In order to meet the monsoon paddy cultivation target and get high yield in ChuangU township, township Agriculture Department head Daw Khin Myat Myat Oo and her staff inspected the monsoon paddy fields in the villages starting from 14 August. The department is negotiating with the local farmers and giving awareness regarding the monsoon paddy cultivation.
In 2021-2022 FY, the local farmers from ChaungU Township targeted to cultivate over 102,000 acres of monsoon paddy crops including paddy, edible oil, verity of nutritious pulses, bamboo, kitchen crops and other crops. Those monsoon crops are started cultivating in May, 2021. As of today, over 100,000 acres of monsoon crops have been cultivated, according to the ChaungU Township Agriculture Department.—Lulay/GNLM
