The Ministry of Science and Technology is planning to hold a conference in coming November to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the beginning of engineering education in Myanmar, which started in the 1923-1924 academic year.
The conference will address future engineering education strategies and establish processes to support the country’s long-term sustainable development, while also providing young people with the opportunity to learn from and be inspired by the historical milestones of Myanmar’s engineers, fostering creativity in modern engineering technology, and cultivating a new generation of engineers whom the country can actually rely on. The event also aims to promote university-industry collaboration, support national economic development, improve the availability and distribution of research results to entrepreneurs and the public, and strengthen the exchange of experience and technology among engineers at home and abroad.
At the conference, the directors-general of departments under the Ministry of Science and Technology, rectors from technological and computer universities, and principals from government technological colleges will present papers on the history of engineering science, related projects, and research findings. — ASH/TH
