MoST UM attends 11th China-ASEAN Technology Transfer & Cooperation Conference

Union Minister for Science and Technology Dr Myo Thein Kyaw left Yangon on 12 July to attend the 11th China-ASEAN Technology Transfer and Cooperation Conference to be held in Nanning, the People’s Republic of China. The Union minister was seen off at the Yangon International Airport by Ms Joely, the Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy to Myanmar, and officials from the Ministry of Science and Technology.
On his arrival in Nanning, he was welcomed by the deputy director-general of the Science and Technology Department of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and U Kyaw Soe Thein, Consul-General of Myanmar in Nanning, at Nanning’s Wuxu International Airport.
The Union minister attended the dinner hosted by Guangxi Autonomous Region Governor Mr Lan Tiani, along with Ministers of Science and Technology from the People’s Republic of China and ASEAN countries.
In meeting with Minister of Science and Technology Mr Wang Zhigang, the two ministers cordially exchanged views on cooperation in the field of science and technology between the two countries, the sending of scholars, technology transfer, research cooperation, the establishment of the Myanmar Digital Economy Innovation and Entrepreneurship Centre, courses on food technology, curriculum schemes, teaching methods and obtaining international certification for food laboratories.
The Union minister attended the 11th China-ASEAN Technology Transfer and Cooperation Forum held at the Great Conference Hall of the International Conference Centre on 13 July.
Ministers of Science and Technology from China, Cambodia, Malaysia and Union Minister Dr Myo Thein Kyaw gave speeches at the forum.
Afterwards, the Union minister along with ministers of Science and Technology from PRC, Cambodia and Malaysia attended the opening ceremony of the “2023 China-ASEAN Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition”.
In the afternoon, the Union minister observed artificial intelligence-AI technologies and digital economy technologies at the Information Hub and proceeded to Nanning Transport Vocational School and viewed the teaching and learning activities of practical teaching in workshops and Labs.
In the evening, the Union minister left for Guilin to attend the International Forum on Innovation and Cooperation for China-ASEAN Sustainable Development. — MNA/TS
