MoSWRR hands over youth policy, related activities to MoSYA

The Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement held the handover ceremony of youth policy and related activities to the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs yesterday morning in Nay Pyi Taw. The ceremony was attended by Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs U Min Thein Zan, Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr Thet Thet Khine, Deputy Ministers U Myo Hlaing, U Aung Tun Khaing and departmental officials.
At the meeting, Union Minister Dr Thet Thet Khine said her ministry has formulated and approved the Youth Policy and the National Strategic Plan for Youth Policy (2020-2024) for the development of young people. The Ministry, in collaboration with the international community including ASEAN, has participated in youth activities, meetings, seminars, she said.
The Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement has been providing services for care and protection of vulnerable groups such as children, women, the elderly, and persons with disabilities, with the Life Cycle Approach. As the youth sector, she said, the Ministry has opened child care centres and youth training schools for children in need of care and behavioural reform since a long time ago.
Union Minister U Min Thein Zan said he will work together with relevant ministries and organizations to develop disciplined and qualified future leaders as the youth development sector is a cross-cutting issue and young people at present are facing challenges such as technology, economy, job opportunities and drugs. He said he will make efforts to build the nation by bringing together the next generations who can promote the interests of the community and the State.
Afterwards, officials discussed the activities carried out concerning youth affairs, ongoing processes and future activities. — MNA
