MoSWRR holds meeting of R&R working group

Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement held the first coordination meeting of the Working Group on Repatriation, Reintegration and Rehabilitation of Trafficked Victims – R & R Working Group, one of three working groups formed under the Central Committee for the Prevention of Trafficking in Persons, yesterday afternoon in Nay Pyi Taw.
At the meeting, Deputy Minister U Soe Aung, in his capacity as the Chairperson of the working group, said his ministry is cooperating with related departments, working groups and, local/international social organizations.
He continued the working group was reformed in May 2018, and the meeting is to ensure effective communication between members, to identify advantages and weaknesses and to take action plans.
He also added the need to appropriate the fund to implement the plans and to prepare for the annual US Anti-Trafficking Report.
The Deputy Minister stressed the need for cooperation with relevant civil society organizations and departments in protecting Myanmar migrant workers and vulnerable groups, including domestic violence caused by COVID-19 and the prevention and response of potential human trafficking.
Afterwards, the Secretary of the working group, Director-General for the Rehabilitation Department U Win Naing Tun, presented the working conditions of the working group and further activities to be carried out and discussed the advantages and weakness of the working conditions.
The meeting was also attended by the Permanent Secretary for the Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement, the Director-General and members of the Working Group on Repatriation, Reintegration and Rehabilitation of Trafficked Victims – R & R Working Group and officials.—MNA (Translated by Ei Phyu Phyu Aung)
