MoTC Union Minister makes inspection tour in Ayeyawady Region

Union Minister for Transport and Communications Admiral Tin Aung San inspected the measures to prevent riverbank erosion at Lawkananda pagoda and Cable Landing Station of SEA-ME-WE-5 in Pathein Township of Ayeyawady Region yesterday.
First, the Union minister went to the Ngawun riverbank erosion prevention works at the foot of Lawkananda pagoda and sand quarrying processes at upstream.
Then, he stressed the need to maintain the riverbank affected by erosion as per the standards and preparations for sand mining at certain places not to occur further riverbank erosion.
The Union minister and party inspected the harbour of Myanma Port Authority at Wedaunt jetty in Pathein Township and highlighted the repair works on the harbour and sand mining process near it.
He went to the Cable Landing Station of SEA-ME-WE-5 and talked about the proper international communication system and timely maintenance works on the disconnection of submarine cables and land cables.
During the meeting with the departmental staff of the ministry, the region-level officials reported on the ongoing work plans, budget raising and expenditure and allowance for staff.
Then, the Union minister stressed the need to improve the missions, duties and abilities of the departments concerned, effective public transport and services, security affairs for staff and natural disaster prevention and adherence to COVID-19 health rules according to the SOP. – MNA
