Myanma Petroleum Product Enterprise under the Ministry of Energy has announced it will open 40 fuel stations across the nation in cooperation with foreign companies.
An MPPE official said the fuel stations will be opened in fiscal 2015-16 to compete with privately run stations and reduce fuel prices.
“We will penetrate the market with 40 fuel stations in the nation. We plan to reduce the prices of fuel and supply fuel to the private sector,” the official said. The fuel stations of the enterprise will sell petroleum, diesel, octane and engine oil.
At present, the MPPE runs 13 fuel stations while private entrepreneurs operate 101 stations in Mandalay.—Aung Ye Thwin
