MPT launches digital insurance for healthcare, personal accident

Myanmar’s leading telecommunications operator MPT launched MPT U-Life Digital Insurance on 19 October to provide comprehensive coverage for general healthcare and personal accident protection for its customers, in partnership with GGI Nippon Life & AYA SOMPO Insurance.
That digital insurance service in Myanmar is offering health and personal accident insurance coverage for MPT customers, including COVID-19 patients. MPT is partnering with GGI Nippon Life to offer Health Insurance called Zi Wa Ka and AYA SOMPO Insurance for Personal Accident Insurance called Thet Taw Saunt for MPT SIM Users. MPT users can effortlessly purchase the above two insurance policies to protect themselves and their loved ones, from their own homes via MPT4U application and MPT Website, SMS notification and MPT U-Life Digital Insurance Webpage
From 19 October, customers can purchase Zi Wa Ka health insurance policy underwritten by GGI Nippon Life which provides comprehensive hospitalization coverage in case of hospitalization from sickness or death caused by diseases and COVID-19. There is an additional lump sum payment of K200,000 (valid till 31 December 2020) if any person covered under Zi Wa Ka is diagnosed with COVID-19. Every MPT SIM user between 6 and 75 years old can purchase Zi Wa Ka health insurance policy. However, parents or guardians of children between the ages of 6 and 18 will be required to insure them under their insurance plans.
The Thet Taw Saunt personal accident insurance is underwritten by AYA SOMPO Insurance and will be available on the MPT platform by the end of October 2020. Customers can purchase coverage against personal accidents resulting in injury, total permanent disabilities, and death, where the insured person will be entitled to a payout amount between K500,000 and the maximum amount of K10 million. MPT customers aged between 16 and 60 years are eligible to purchase; however, persons between 16 to 18 years of age can apply for coverage through their parents and guardians.
The “MPT U-Life Insurance” service is designed to simplify access to insurance products, especially for those customers who have never purchased insurance coverage before. Deduction of the premium is possible through a mobile airtime account or direct MPT Money transfer. Additionally, all the insurance customers between 19 October and 18 November can receive rewards with every insurance plan purchase.
MPT customers can seamlessly use MPT4U application to manage their accounts from their own homes. MPT4U App for iOS and Android can be downloaded from or by dialling USSD code *4040# to receive a download link.
