Myanma Railway will run the special up and down trains on Nay Pyi Taw-Yangon, Yangon-Mandalay and Yangon-Pyay routes on 4 November, MR stated.
The airbag up-train for the Nay Pyi Taw-Yangon route will depart at the Nay Pyi Taw railway station at 6:30 p.m. on 4 November and arrive at the Yangon Central Railway Station at 7:15 a.m. on 5 November. The train is scheduled to stop at Pyinmana, Toungoo, Phyu, Nyaunglebin, Bago and Toegyaunggalay stations.
The ticket fare is the same as the express train. During the last Thadingyut holidays, MR provided a special train service to tackle the problems of the passengers.
For the Yangon-Pyay down-train, the departure time from Yangon Central Railway Station is at 1 pm on 5 November arriving at Pyay station at 9 pm. The up-train from Pyay to Yangon will leave at 8 pm on 7 November and arrive at Yangon Railway Central Station at 4 am on 8 November. The airbag trains (No 71 down-train and No 72 up-train) will run regularly.
Additionally, the No 5 up-train and No 6 down-train running on the Yangon-Mandalay route on Fridays and Sundays will extend their services on 7 November (the full moon day of Tazaungmone) for the passengers as well.
MR is planning to launch online ticket sales. At present, passengers can buy a ticket one day in advance for the ordinary class and three days for the upper class of the trains, by presenting a citizenship scrutiny card. The driver’s licence and the recommendation letter are not valid in purchasing the tickets. In October, the scammers swindled the money through the Facebook page named an unofficial airbag train ticket-selling counter.
MR operates Yangon-Mandalay airbag special trains on Fridays and Sundays. It will depart from Yangon Central Railway Station at 3:45 pm. Also, the train departs at Mandalay station at 3 pm. The ticket fare is set at K7,750 for the ordinary class and K15,500 for the upper class.
Moreover, MR daily runs Yangon-Mandalay express trains, with the ticket fare costing K7,750 for the ordinary class, K15,500 for the upper class and K21,000 for berths.
Additionally, Yangon-Mandalay local train runs every two days and the ticket fare is K5,700. The departure times are 7:45 am from Yangon Central Railway Station and 5 pm from Mandalay Station.
MR resumed its services on the following railways: Yangon-Pyay airbag express train (daily), Kyimyindine-Pyay railway mail service (daily), Yangon-Mawlamyine airbag train (daily), Yangon-Bago (daily), Pyinmana-Taungdwingyi railway mail service (daily), Pathein-Kyangin railway mail service (daily), Mandalay-PyinOoLwin (Saturdays), PyinOoLwin-Gokteik (Sundays), Thazi-Shwenyaung (Mondays), Pyitawtha-Yechanpyin (daily) and Taunggyi-Banyin (daily). – TWA/GNLM
