Muskmelon plantations in Tatkon Tsp expect much profit

Organic muskmelon plantations are thriving in Kinmundan Village in Tatkon Township, beside Tatkon-Pobbathiri concrete road. Local growers cultivate various species of muskmelon such as yellow and green long and round fruits. Farmers send fruits to Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon and Mandalay cities. It was reported that the muskmelon of Myanmar is marketable in China. Muskmelon can be grown twice a year. Farmers can cost K17 million per acre for the first cropping. The second crop cultivation cost will be on decrease.
Last year, farmers sold 4-5 yuans per kilo of fruit in the Chinese market and K1500-K2000 per fruits in the domestic market.
Agricultural technology will be shared to local farmers, said grower U Han Tun Yin.
Nay Pyi Taw Council member U Myint Shwe and officials viewed thriving muskmelon plantation on 16 February and urged local farmers to grow quality strains of muskmelon in their farms.–Maung Pu (Tatkon)
