Mya Sein Yaung village project benefit more than eight million people

The Mya Sein Yaung Village Project that has been implemented since 2014-2015 financial year, with 298.11 billion kyats from the State fund which benefits more than 8 million rural people across the country.
The project aims to promote socio-economic development of the rural areas, with the implementation in agriculture, livestock, rural water supply, rural lighting, village business and other livelihood activities.
At the coordination meeting on Mya Sein Yaung Project held yesterday morning through video conferencing, Union Minister for Cooperatives and Rural Development U Hla Moe said efforts are being made to link with small and medium enterprises, agricultural-based cooperative societies and rural infrastructure development works for socio-economic development of the rural people.
The project covers 22 per cent of all villages in the country and is implemented in a total of 12,084 villages in 289 townships since its establishment in 2014 to date. During the current COVID-19 crisis, arrangements are made to alleviate socio-economic problems, including to prevent delays in money lending and interest rate easing. The Union Minister also added the ministry will work with the relevant authorities to make the project more successful.
At present, the project has received 188.84 billion kyats from interest and a total of 2,937 rural development works have been implemented in 2,481 villages through the income from the interest and public contribution.—MNA
